I am new to Zoho Creator. How to start?
Welcome mate! Once you've signed up, kick start your action by
clicking the 'Create New Application' button on your homepage. The
Create New Application dialog offers you various choices in creating
your application. You can create your application,
- By adding a blank form and customize it from scratch or use
a pre-build template form that suits your requirement.
- Select an application from the Application gallery which contains
ready-made applications that you can start to use immediately.
- By importing data from .xls files and directly create your application
with Form and Data.
- If you are well versed in deluge scripting, you can create
an entire application by writing deluge scripts.

Do I need to know coding to create an application?
Absolutely not! You can create an application if you have a mouse
in working condition.

What browsers do you support?
We support the following browsers on Windows and in major Linux
flavors:
- Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
- Firefox 1.0 above
- Mozilla 1.7 above

How can I add a new form to my application?
To create a new form, select New Form from the Forms
tab. Zoho creator provides you various choices here - you can
create your form from a blank form and customize it from scratch
or create your application with a pre-build template form that suits
your requirement, or create a form with data by importing a .xls
file.

Can I edit my existing form properties?
To edit form properties,
- Select the Form from the Forms Tab.
- Select More Actions -> Form Properties.

How can I add fields to a form?
You can add fields to a blank form or existing forms and also re-arrange
them through simple drag and drop. Select a form from the Forms
Tab and drag and drop the required field types.

How can I edit an existing field?
To edit an existing field,
- Select a Form from the Forms Tab.
- Place your mouse over the field to be edited and click on the
icon.
- Select the Edit option to edit the existing field properties.

How can I view my data?
When you add a new form to your application, Zoho Creator automatically
creates a default view for the form in the Views tab. The default
view will have all the columns in the form and will display all
the records without any criteria and filters.

Can I hide a column from my view?
Yes, you can hide a column from your view. To hide a column, select
Column Properties in the View Tab and deselect the
Show checkbox for the column.

How can I save my application?
Wed like to ensure that we dont take up too much of
your time or energy. Therefore, the application is saved automatically!

How can I create relationship between
two forms in an application?
You can create one-to-one or one-to-many relationship between forms
in ZohoCreator. To create a relationship betweeen Form A and Form
B, you have to define a field in Form B as being imported from Form
A. Refer the topic, Create
Relationship between Forms, for more information.

Can I create a view from two related
forms ? If so how ?
Yes you can. In the view of the referring form[child], select
the Column Properties from the left pane. You will find a link named
"related fields" near the lookup field you have added.
Click on the link to list all the fields associated with it. The
fields you choose will appear in this view. Refer the topic, Combined
Views for more information.

How can I share my application
with users?
Zoho Creator enables the owner of a private application to share
the entire application or specific forms and views, with anyone
who has internet access and an email address. You can also provide
public access to specific forms/views in your private application.

Can I make my form "Public"
and view "Private"?
By default, an application created in Zoho Creator is "Private".
The make your Form entry = public and view data = private,
- Click on 'Share' tab which will list all the forms and views
as arranged in the "Layout tab".
- Select the Form to be made "Public". You will find
the text "xxx" form is Private with the "Change"
Link, where xxx refers to the formname.
- Click on "change". This will change the form as "public".
Although your overall application is set to private, your form
will now be public while data views remain private.

How can I make the data in my
public application non-editable and non-deletable ?
In Edit Mode, select the view from the Views tab. Click
on View Properties and uncheck 'Allow others to : Edit record,
Delete record '. By default these are disabled.

I have created different forms and
view. Can I arrange them under various tabs or sections?
Yes, you can arrange the forms and view in your application under
various tabs or sections. To do this, select the Layout tab
and customize the look and feel of your application.

When should I use scripting ?
- Anytime !
- If you like coding
- Instrument some intelligence[business logic] into your
application, eg. based on the shared-user who visits your
application, you may change some form /view attributes.
- For input validation.
- For notification - error message, email.

| How can I embed a
form in my website ?
Click "more actions" on the form, select "Embed
in your Website" option, and copy and paste the content into
your website.

If I rename my Public form or view
which I have already embeded in a website, will it still be shown
?
Your embedded form/view is referred by a permalink, which will
never change unless the form/view is deleted.

Please ensure that your application is "Private", inorder
to avoid search-engine spiders to crawl on your private data. You
may share your private application to 'n' number of users, which
ensures data exposure within your closed circle.
